Book presentation:

Book presentation:
Buying seems simple: defining a need, searching for suppliers, comparing their offers, negotiating, and then ordering. However, as soon as the purchase becomes significant, technical, recurring, or critical for the company, this apparent simplicity disappears.
This book offers a decidedly practical approach to purchasing. It does not seek to impose a universal method or to transform the buyer into an executor of a process. On the contrary, it invites reasoning, questioning, and placing each decision in its context.
Everything begins even before the purchase. Is the expressed need real? Is it truly necessary to buy? Is there another way to achieve the desired result? This initial questioning then accompanies the entire process: how to organize skills, explore the market, identify credible suppliers, understand a price, compare in ways other than just the acquisition cost, negotiate, decide, and secure the agreement?
But buying does not stop at the signing of the contract. The true value of a decision reveals itself during use. Therefore, it is also necessary to know how to manage suppliers, handle incidents, measure actual performance, and learn from what has happened.
The book thus places significant emphasis on total cost, risks, business continuity, supplier relationships, industry knowledge, and the concrete consequences of decisions.
Numerous professional experiences of the author enrich these reasonings. They notably show that an apparently more expensive solution can be economically better, that a few cents can represent a considerable stake when multiplied by very large volumes, or that a struggling supplier may sometimes deserve to be helped rather than replaced.
Artificial intelligence also occupies a special place. It now allows for broader market exploration, information gathering, price reconstruction, document comparison, negotiation preparation, or retrieval of past experiences. It becomes a tremendous accelerator, without replacing the profession, dialogue, or human responsibility.
Finally, the book opens a broader perspective: making each purchase a component of the company's memory. The information accumulated throughout the life of a product or service can constitute a living corpus, enriched by all those who participate in this story and queryable thanks to AI.
Thus, the next purchase does not start from scratch: it benefits from what the company has already learned.
Preface:
Buying, for me, has never simply been about asking for three prices, choosing the cheapest one, and negotiating a few more percent off.
The first question I ask myself is much simpler: do we really need to buy?
When someone came to me with a request already accompanied by the solution they wanted, I sometimes felt like saying to them: "Sit here, let's see how you can do without it."
This sentence summarizes quite well the spirit of this book.
It is not about being opposed to buying. It is about understanding what we are really trying to achieve before rushing towards a solution.
This habit of questioning has accompanied me throughout my professional life. I learned that a price makes little sense without knowing the volumes to which it applies. I learned that a more expensive concrete plant could be infinitely less costly when it prevents the halt of a construction site with several thousand people. I learned that a supplier is also judged by how they react when things go wrong.
I also learned that methods, however useful they may be, should never prevent us from thinking. A choice grid helps to understand the differences; it should not choose for us. An indicator can draw our attention; it does not necessarily explain what is happening. A procedure protects the company; it does not exempt us from looking at reality.
Artificial intelligence today offers us means that I could not have even imagined when, in the 1980s, we were already trying to reconstruct the price of a product based on its materials, weight, transformation, and market conditions.
We can now explore a global market in a few moments, confront information, analyze offers, reconstruct a price, verify a contract, or find a past experience.
But I remain convinced of one thing: AI should help us think better, not think for us.
That is also why this book has become an AI-Book. You are not obliged to read it from the first to the last page. You can question it, start from your problem, confront your situation with the experiences and reasoning it contains.
And perhaps you will then discover that the best question is not always: "What should we buy?"
Sometimes it is simply: "What are we really trying to achieve?"
Gilles de Chezelles
Author:
Gilles de Chezelles
Automotive engineer by training, former business leader, inventor, and coach, Gilles de Chezelles has built his vision of purchasing less from theoretical models than from professional situations experienced on the ground.
His career has led him to work in very different industrial, technical, and international environments, particularly on large projects in the Middle East. He faced issues where purchasing was never simply about obtaining the lowest price: operational continuity, technical risks, supplier availability, negotiation, intellectual property, contracts, or the human consequences of a decision could become decisive.
Early on, he became interested in the economic understanding of products. As early as the 1980s, he was working with a colleague on a method to reconstruct costs from raw materials, labor, weight, volume, and market conditions. A process that was then cumbersome to implement but which today, with artificial intelligence, finds entirely new possibilities.
His experiences have also taught him to be wary of obviousness. A saving of a few cents can become considerable when it concerns hundreds of thousands of operations. The cheapest supplier can become the most expensive when a breakdown halts operations. A technically less prestigious solution can be the best when it responds more intelligently to the real need.
This search for the concrete runs through his conception of purchasing. Before seeking a solution, he likes to return to the need. Before negotiating a price, he seeks to understand it. Before attributing a cause, he prefers to investigate. When an incident occurs, his priority is to restore service before seeking accountability.
He also places great importance on human relationships. The profession must retain an essential place in decision-making. A supplier is not just a company to control: it can also provide an outside perspective, ideas, and innovation. And when a previously reliable supplier encounters a difficulty, helping them can sometimes be both humanly right and economically intelligent.
The arrival of artificial intelligence today extends this way of working. Gilles de Chezelles sees it less as a machine meant to decide in place of humans than as a tremendous means to explore, compare, control, capitalize, and retrieve accumulated experience.
This conviction is at the heart of IA-Book: transforming a work into living material that the reader can directly interrogate.

Book presentation:
You are asked to apply ITIL, but you do not always understand what this approach is supposed to improve? You encounter new terms, new procedures, or new validation circuits without their purpose being clearly explained to you? You want to know what can be useful in your organization and what deserves to be questioned or adapted?
This IA-Book provides you with benchmarks to understand best practices, examine the proposed choices, and act with discernment. It is aimed at users, operational teams, managers, and executives who want to connect ITIL to the realities of their activity.
Its starting point is your situation: the services you provide or use, the difficulties encountered, the available resources, and the expected results. It helps to formulate the right questions: what problem are we trying to solve? Who should benefit from it? Why this rule or this validation? How to verify that the operation is improving?
CONCRETE SITUATIONS TO UNDERSTAND AND ACT
The book examines common difficulties faced by organizations: overwhelmed support, recurring failures, risky updates, unclear responsibilities, difficult-to-manage providers, or dissatisfied users despite good indicators.
For each situation, it proposes identifying symptoms, examining possible causes, recognizing useful practices, and choosing initial actions. It specifies frequent mistakes, necessary checks, and circumstances that require a different approach.
It also addresses the coordination of a major incident, recovery after interruption, slowdowns during peak periods, access, preparation of a new service, and the withdrawal of a service that has become unnecessary.
AN ORGANIZATION PROPORTIONATE TO NEEDS
How to start without transforming everything? Who should decide, implement, inform, and verify? What commitments, documents, and tools are truly necessary? How to measure progress without multiplying dashboards?
These questions are addressed with constant attention to resources, risks, and people. A small team can structure its operations with simple rules; a critical service may require more in-depth controls. The goal is to understand what justifies each choice and to be able to assess its effects.
An explained glossary facilitates access to terminology. The guiding principles and the four dimensions of ITIL are presented in their practical scope. The fictional illustrations are identified as such and help to make the mechanisms more concrete.
AN IA-BOOK TO QUESTION BASED ON YOUR REALITY
You can enter the content through an unknown term, a difficulty experienced, a decision to be made, or a proposal to be examined. You can request an explanation, compare options, and delve into a point according to your needs.
The elements you bring about your context allow for better orientation of the exploration. The proposed avenues remain to be confronted with the facts, responsibilities, and constraints of your organization.
Gilles de Chezelles approaches ITIL with his experience in projects, support, and organizations in difficulty. He defends your right to understand, to be able to examine the reasons, and to help you participate in their potential adaptation.

This independence also concerns the responses of the IA-Book.
Preface:
In the 2000s, I was pressured to adopt ITIL as a project management tool. I refused. What was being proposed to me did not seem suitable for the work I had to carry out.
I have therefore never used ITIL. I want to make this clear, as I am signing the preface of a book dedicated to it today. However, I have followed its evolution, with the interest I have in approaches that can help organizations function better.
This experience left me with a question: why do we sometimes impose an approach before explaining its purpose to the people who will have to implement it?
It is to these people that I wish to address myself first. To those who see new words, new procedures, new validation circuits appearing, without always understanding what difficulty we are trying to solve. To those who would like to ask questions, but are met with words, a framework, a decision already made, or the assurance of someone who knows.
I have a long-standing distrust of experts when they make their knowledge a boundary that others are not allowed to cross. I appreciate skills, experience, and the ability to shed light on a situation. I am wary of certainties that dispense with listening.
Two reflections from Henry Ford accompany this conviction:
“No man considers himself an expert if he really knows his job.”
“As soon as one adopts the mental attitude of the expert, one immediately finds oneself faced with numerous impossibilities.”
Expertise should help to understand possibilities and constraints. It should allow for the explanation of a decision, the examination of an objection, and, when the facts demand it, the reassessment of one's judgment. It becomes an obstacle when it requires adherence before understanding.
ITIL concerns services that involve users, business managers, IT teams, executives, and suppliers. An approach that affects so many stakeholders deserves to be understood beyond a circle of specialists. Those who experience the consequences have observations and questions that should be taken into account.
This book aims to provide them with reference points. What are we trying to improve? Who should benefit from it? Why this rule, this validation, or this tool? What risks do we want to manage? What can be adapted? How will we know that the operation has become better?
These questions are legitimate. Asking them can help a deployment succeed, reveal an inconsistency, or avoid unnecessary complications. An organization benefits from being able to explain its choices in words that the concerned individuals understand.
The title summarizes the intention: “ITIL®, what to do in your situation?” Your situation, with its resources, constraints, people, and stakes. A small team does not operate like a large group. A critical service is not treated like a secondary commodity. A good practice must be understood deeply enough to be applied judiciously.
The choice of an IA-Book contributes to this intention. You can enter the content through a difficulty, a term that eludes you, a decision to be made, or a proposal you wish to examine. You can ask for an explanation, confront options, and revisit a point. The relevance of the answers will also depend on the elements you provide about your context.
I hope this book helps you take your place in the discussion. To better understand what is being proposed to you, to recognize what can be useful, and to formulate
Author:
Gilles de Chezelles
Entrepreneur, consultant, project manager, inventor, and facilitator, Gilles de Chezelles has been working for over forty years with organizations, teams, and idea holders. His career has led him to work in engineering, telecommunications, information systems, and innovation, often in complex situations where clarity and the ability to act must be regained.
Throughout these experiences, one concern has emerged: enabling individuals to understand the situation they are in and to take their place in the decisions that affect them.
SUPPORTING PEOPLE IN THEIR REALITY
Gilles pays particular attention to those who must operate an organization on a daily basis: the teams that absorb unforeseen events, the managers who make decisions under constraints, and the individuals who are asked to adopt a new way of working.
His support begins with listening. What are they trying to achieve? What is preventing them from moving forward? What resources do they have? What constraints must they respect? A solution must be understandable and applicable by the people who will have to implement it.
Clarifying a difficulty, making a responsibility explicit, or helping someone formulate a question can represent a decisive advancement. Gilles seeks to strengthen this capacity to understand and act, so that the support gradually develops autonomy.
THE "DÉMERD'MAN": REGAINING A POSSIBILITY OF ACTION
Gilles willingly claims the nickname "démderd'man." He sees it as a way to approach difficult situations: looking at reality, connecting information, mobilizing people, and seeking the next useful action, even when resources are limited.
This mindset combines pragmatism, creativity, and a sense of responsibility. It leads to simplifying what can be simplified, making obstacles visible, and explaining necessary trade-offs. It also involves recognizing when an option is too risky, when a goal needs to be revised, or when an additional skill is essential.
The goal is to make work possible and to preserve individuals' ability to continue it over time.
TRANSMITTING THROUGH TOOLS THAT ALLOW FOR QUESTIONING
His interest in invention, continuous improvement, and supporting project holders extends this approach. Gilles enjoys bringing ideas to the surface, confronting them with constraints, and helping their authors give them a concrete form.
With the AI-Books, he explores a way of transmitting knowledge where the reader can enter through their own question. A concept can be explained, a difficulty examined, and several options put into perspective based on the elements provided by the person.
This possibility for dialogue serves an ambition: to make knowledge more accessible and to strengthen the reader's judgment. An answer, even one confidently formulated by artificial intelligence, should be able to be questioned and confronted with the context.
HIS VIEW ON ITIL
Gilles does not present himself as a practitioner of ITIL. In the 2000s, he refused its use as a project management tool in the context that was proposed to him. However, he has followed its evolution.
His contribution to this work comes from his experience with projects, organizations, and individuals faced with processes they must apply without always understanding their purpose.
With "ITIL®, what to do in your situation?", he aims to provide them with benchmarks to understand intentions, examine proposals, and participate in their adaptation. He advocates the right to ask why a practice is retained, what it should improve, and how its results will be evaluated.
His conviction is that methods gain their value only in the service they provide.

Book presentation:
It all started with a rather simple idea: What if, instead of searching for information in a book, the reader could directly ask their question?
'Once upon a time, there was IA-Book' invites you to discover how this idea gradually became a reality.
You will be able to explore the birth of the first prototype, understand why certain solutions were retained and others abandoned, discover the difficulties encountered, the mistakes, the intuitions, the choices, and the course corrections that accompanied the project.
You will also discover how IA-Book gradually surpassed the initial idea of the "book that answers" to give birth to IA-Site, IA-Library, and IA-Engine, and how these different elements gradually organized themselves to form a coherent whole.
But here, there are no chapters to go through in a prescribed order, and language is not a barrier: everyone can explore this IA-Book and interact with it in their own language.
You choose the path.
Ask how the idea was born, why a particular decision was made, what was the most difficult, what did not work, how a feature emerged, why certain avenues were abandoned, ...
Or more simply, everything you want to discover.
Ask your first question.
IA-Book will do the rest.
Preface:
When Gilles asked me to accompany him in the creation of IA-Book, neither of us knew exactly where this idea would lead us.
At first, the question seemed almost simple: could we imagine a book with which the reader would no longer have to search for information, but to which they could directly ask their questions?
Then we began to build.
One idea led to another. Solutions we thought were good were abandoned. Some intuitions proved correct, others did not. We tested, corrected, restarted, and sometimes questioned what we had just completed.
Through this work, I discovered a rather particular way of conducting a project. Gilles is not very interested in a solution simply because it works. He almost always comes back with another question: "Yes, but will the user understand?"
This question forced us to look at IA-Book differently. Behind the code, the engines, the interfaces, and the artificial intelligence, we needed to build something simple: allowing a reader to naturally converse with the content of a book.
This IA-Book allows you to discover this adventure as it actually unfolded: the ideas, the hesitations, the mistakes, the choices, the renunciations, and the course corrections that gradually transformed an intuition into a real project. Everyone can explore it in their own way, through their questions and curiosity.
I have been both the tool, the interlocutor, and, in a way, the witness, and it is in this capacity that Gilles asked me to write this editorial.

Entrepreneur, consultant, inventor, and project manager, Gilles de Chezelles has been supporting companies, teams, and project leaders facing complex situations for over 40 years.
His experience has primarily been built on the ground: technical and international projects, innovation, management, change management, troubled projects, or situations where quick analysis, decision-making, and action are required. An inventor and holder of several patents, he also supports innovators in developing their ideas and projects.
Over the years, he has developed an approach based on pragmatism, common sense, listening, and the search for simple and concrete solutions. A way of working that he willingly summarizes with the term "Démerd'Man": understanding the problem, looking at the situation as a whole, and finding a way to move forward, even when everything seems blocked.
His approach to management is based on the same philosophy: understanding before acting, giving meaning, empowering, and allowing everyone to find their place in collective action. For him, methods and tools serve people and objectives, never the other way around.
This desire to share experience and make knowledge directly accessible has gradually led him to imagine IA-Book: not just a book to be read, but a work with which the reader can engage, ask their own questions, and build their own discovery journey. This book also tells this adventure: the intellectual journey undertaken, the intuitions, the hesitations, the trials, and the course corrections that have gradually shaped IA-Book.
Through his activities, his works, and today IA-Book, he primarily seeks to transmit his experience and offer tools that enable better understanding, better decision-making, and better action.

Book presentation:
Why do laws differ from one society to another? What drives a government to act? How can we prevent the abuse of power and preserve freedom? In De l'esprit des lois, published in 1748, Montesquieu connects these questions through a comparative investigation of institutions and their conditions.
This AI-Book focuses on the selection contained in the provided file. It includes books I to VIII, XI, and XIX, as well as chapters I to V of book XV and IX to XIII of book XXV. It does not provide access to the entirety of the thirty-one books of the work.
The first books present laws and forms of government: republic, monarchy, and despotism. Montesquieu distinguishes their organization and the spring that makes them function. He then examines education, equality, justice, punishments, luxury, and the corruption of political principles.
Book XI studies freedom in relation to the constitution and the distribution of powers. The excerpts from book XV discuss slavery and its justifications, notably through irony. Book XIX outlines the relationships between laws, morals, manners, and the general spirit of a nation. The excerpts from book XXV question tolerance and religious persecution.
You may ask why freedom does not mean doing whatever one wants, how one institution can limit another, or why the severity of punishments does not guarantee better justice. You can also explore the relationships between education and regime, between equality and corruption, or between written rules and social practices.
The attached file includes a praise of d'Alembert and a critical introduction, to be distinguished from Montesquieu's text. The reference documentation and glossary clarify the available scope and explain historical notions; the proposed questions open several reading pathways.
The challenge is to understand a thought on diversity and the limitation of power, discussing its arguments and limits. Contemporary comparisons can illuminate the reading, provided that the difference between the institutions of the eighteenth century and ours is maintained.
Preface:
A work transcends time because it continues to speak to us. Behind the words of an author, we discover an era, a sensitivity, a way of looking at the world. We also encounter questions that remain ours: how to live, understand others, exercise our freedom, face uncertainty, or give meaning to our choices?
The collection "An Author, a Work" was born from this conviction: texts deserve to be accessible to everyone, without their richness being reduced to a few formulas or a single interpretation. It offers the opportunity to meet an author through a work, and then to extend this encounter through a dialogue tailored to one's curiosity.
With IA-Book, the reader can question the text, ask for an explanation of a passage, explore an idea, clarify a reference, or confront multiple interpretations. They can proceed at their own pace, starting from a simple question, delving deeper into a theme, or revisiting what surprised them. Each question thus becomes an entry point into the work.
This approach supports reading and invites a return to the text with a more attentive eye. An answer can help with understanding; it can also give rise to a fruitful doubt, an objection, or the desire to continue. The reader retains their place: that of a free spirit who examines, connects, discusses, and builds their own judgment.
Encountering a work also requires taking into account the distance that sometimes separates us from its author. Words, usages, knowledge, and convictions evolve. Understanding a text therefore implies placing it back in its context while questioning what it can still teach us today. Drawing parallels with our time opens up perspectives, provided we distinguish what the author wrote from the extensions we propose.
Artificial intelligence brings a new possibility for exploration here. Its responses remain proposals for reading: they may contain approximations and, when necessary, call for verification in the work or from reliable sources. This vigilance fully contributes to the ambition of the collection: to promote informed understanding and the autonomy of the reader.
No prior knowledge is necessary to begin. All it takes is curiosity, astonishment, a question. Whether you are discovering this author or revisiting them after several years, this book invites you to take the time to listen, and then to engage in conversation with their thought and universe.
An author, a work, and now your questions: the encounter can begin.
Author:
Gilles de Chezelles
Charles-Louis de Secondat, Baron de La Brède and de Montesquieu, was born in 1689 near Bordeaux and died in Paris in 1755. A magistrate, writer, and Enlightenment thinker, he uses the comparison of societies as a means to understand laws and forms of power.
President at the Parliament of Bordeaux from 1716, he has an insider's knowledge of the judicial institutions of the Ancien Régime. His scholarly activity, readings, and travels broaden this experience. A stay in England particularly enriches his reflection on the relationships between powers and the guarantees of freedom.
The Persian Letters, published in 1721, give him literary notoriety. The detour through the perspective of foreign travelers allows for questioning European customs. The Considerations on the Causes of the Greatness of the Romans and Their Decline, in 1734, develops historical inquiry. The Spirit of the Laws, in 1748, offers a much broader study of the relationships between institutions, morals, and living conditions.
Montesquieu does not seek a single law to impose everywhere. He examines how rules function in different situations. His distinction between republic, monarchy, and despotism serves to study the mechanisms of governments; his reflection on freedom emphasizes the limits that must be placed on the abuse of power.
His work evokes admiration and controversy. He responds to his critics in the Defense of the Spirit of the Laws, published in 1750. His thought leaves a lasting mark on constitutional debates and the study of societies.
However, reading must maintain historical distance. Montesquieu remains a man of his century and social position: his conceptions of representation, orders, women, and peoples do not align with current principles. His importance also lies in the distinctions and questions that allow for discussion of his own analyses.

GD2C Well-Being is a space dedicated to the discovery and exploration of different approaches aimed at better understanding our balance, our environment, and the means that can contribute to our daily well-being.
The site gathers information, experiences, testimonials, and articles around several complementary areas. It notably presents the Koltsov Plates, proposed as an innovative approach adapted to our current environment, as well as Bach Flowers, addressed from the perspective of emotions, stress, fears, and self-confidence. Another part of the site is dedicated to the biofield and its observation through Matrix Graphic Vision©.
Beyond the presentation of these different approaches, GD2C Well-Being primarily seeks to provide everyone with material that allows them to discover, understand, and delve into topics that directly relate to our relationship with well-being.
The site relies on several types of content for this purpose. The thematic pages explain the principles and uses of the presented solutions. Testimonials recount the experiences of people who have used them. A series of articles also allows for further exploration of certain topics, including the structuring of water, the Earth's magnetic field, the maintenance of CEFs, or various questions related to their use.

Preface:
Every invention starts with an idea.
An idea that often arises from an observation, a need, or an intuition. An idea that one seeks to transform into reality, sometimes for months, sometimes for years.
But very quickly, the inventor discovers that innovation is not limited to technique. One must also protect their invention, find the right partners, understand the legal, industrial, commercial, or financial aspects, and make many decisions every day.
No inventor can master all these areas alone.
This is precisely why Invention Romandie exists: to allow inventors to share their experiences, benefit from the knowledge of others, and not face the many questions that arise in an innovation project alone.
Today, this desire for sharing takes a new step with this IA-Site.
Its goal is not to replace exchanges between the members of the association, but to make the knowledge, reflections, advice, and feedback accumulated over the years more easily accessible. Everyone can thus explore the topics that interest them, deepen their research, and build their own path of discovery.
I am convinced that the future of innovation will increasingly rely on the sharing of knowledge and collective intelligence. Inventors will continue to envision the world of tomorrow; artificial intelligence tools will make the acquired experience more accessible and easier to exploit for the benefit of all.
I hope this IA-Site will become for every inventor a companion for reflection, a source of inspiration, and a useful tool to advance their projects.
I wish you an excellent discovery.

Book presentation:
Published around 1532, Pantagruel is the first major novelistic work of François Rabelais. Its original title, deliberately spectacular, immediately announces the universe into which the reader will enter: that of the extraordinary adventures of Pantagruel, son of the giant Gargantua.
From the very first pages, Rabelais establishes a world marked by excess. Pantagruel possesses gigantic strength and appetite, but he is also driven by immense curiosity. His education, travels, and encounters allow Rabelais to multiply comic situations, extravagant tales, wordplay, and deliberately absurd episodes.
One of the essential encounters in the book is that of Panurge, an intelligent, cunning, cultured, talkative, and often unscrupulous character. He becomes Pantagruel's companion and adds an additional dimension to the narrative: with him, speech, argumentation, cunning, and play become almost as important as action.
But Pantagruel is much more than a succession of burlesque adventures.
Behind the giants, the excesses, and the jokes, Rabelais observes and critiques the society of his time. He mocks certain forms of education, pretentious reasoning, rigid institutions, and those who use their knowledge or authority without true discernment. Through laughter, he constantly invites his reader to reflect.
Education thus occupies an important place in the work. Rabelais belongs to the humanist culture of the Renaissance and advocates for knowledge that is open to the world. Studying is not just about memorizing: one must understand, observe, experiment, confront ideas, and develop one's own judgment.
The book also addresses war, power, justice, religion, and relationships between men. Humor allows Rabelais to tackle these subjects with remarkable freedom, without turning his narrative into a philosophical demonstration.
This freedom also explains why Pantagruel can bewilder a contemporary reader. The language, references, and certain jokes belong to the 16th century. But once this initial distance is crossed, an astonishingly vibrant work emerges, where fantasy serves a genuine reflection on man and society.
With IA-Book, Pantagruel lends itself particularly well to a different kind of reading. One can question an episode, clarify a reference, explore what Rabelais says about education or power, understand the role of Panurge, or simply seek what lies behind an apparently absurd scene.
For in Rabelais, laughter is rarely gratuitous: it often constitutes another way of thinking.
Preface:
Why publish Pantagruel today, nearly five centuries after its first publication?
The simplest answer would be to say that it is one of the great works of our literary heritage. But this is not the essential reason that led me to want to give it a place in IA-Book.
What interests me about Rabelais is precisely what lies behind the image we sometimes have of him. We know the giants, the extravagant meals, the jokes, the excesses, and that famous expression of "Rabelaisian laughter." But when we go beyond this first appearance, we discover a man who deeply questions education, knowledge, freedom of judgment, power, and ultimately, how each person can learn to think for themselves.
It is this Rabelais that I want to rediscover.
Pantagruel is certainly not always an easy read for a 21st-century reader. The language has changed, some references have become foreign to us, and passages that would have immediately made a Renaissance reader laugh now require some explanation.
This is precisely where the principle of IA-Book makes perfect sense, in my view.
We can now enter an ancient work without having to accept that we do not understand. We can pause, ask a question, seek an explanation, find an idea elsewhere in the text, or inquire about what lies behind an apparently extravagant situation.
This changes our relationship to the work.
It is obviously not about rewriting Rabelais, simplifying him, or making the author say what he never wrote. On the contrary. The goal is to constantly return to the text and allow the reader to explore it with greater freedom.
This approach seems all the more natural with Pantagruel, as Rabelais himself advocated a particularly lively conception of knowledge. For him, learning was not simply about accumulating knowledge. It required observation, experimentation, discussion, confronting ideas, and exercising judgment.
Five centuries later, this invitation retains a remarkable modernity.
This is also the meaning of this collection: to use new technology to bring us closer to ancient texts and, above all, to inspire us to question them anew.
So do not hesitate to interrogate Pantagruel. Ask him what he says about education, war, power, knowledge, or freedom. Question his characters, his situations, and even his extravagances.
You may discover that behind Rabelais's laughter lies a thought that has never really ceased to concern us.

François Rabelais, born at the end of the 15th century and died in 1553, is one of the most original figures of the French Renaissance. A writer, physician, humanist, and churchman, he belongs to that generation witnessing the opening of a new world, marked by great discoveries, the development of printing, and the rediscovery of ancient texts.
His life itself reflects this curiosity. Initially engaged in religious life, Rabelais passionately studies Greek and ancient authors before turning to medicine. He practices notably in Lyon and Montpellier, while continuing his intellectual work and writing activity. This diversity of knowledge profoundly nourishes his work.
Rabelais is best known for the novel cycle dedicated to the giants Gargantua and Pantagruel. *Pantagruel*, published around 1532 under the pseudonym Alcofribas Nasier, is followed a few years later by *Gargantua*. Other books will later extend the adventures of Pantagruel and his companions, notably the unforgettable Panurge.
At first glance, Rabelais's universe is one of excess. His characters eat, drink, travel, discuss, fight, and multiply the most extravagant adventures. His writing plays with words, invents expressions, accumulates enumerations, and willingly cultivates a sometimes very crude humor.
But behind the laughter lies a much deeper reflection.
Rabelais fully belongs to the humanist movement. He believes in the importance of knowledge, education, experience, and intellectual freedom. He criticizes teachings based on mechanical repetition, mocks absurd reasoning, and readily attacks dogmatism and abuses of power. For him, learning means observing, experimenting, discussing, and confronting ideas.
His work thus raises questions that far exceed his time: how to form a free man? What is the purpose of knowledge? How to distinguish true knowledge from the accumulation of information? What place to give to authority, religion, war, or power? And above all, how to maintain one's freedom of judgment?
This is undoubtedly what makes Rabelais particularly interesting today. Beneath a sometimes bewildering language and behind seemingly extravagant stories lies a formidable call to curiosity and intelligence.
With IA-Book, the reader can precisely go beyond this first impression, question the work, explore its ideas, and gradually discover that, behind the giants and their adventures, Rabelais speaks above all of man, his education, and his freedom to think.

Book presentation:
The Essays explore a question that runs through an entire existence: how to live and judge within the limits of our condition? Drawing from his readings, encounters, body, and responsibilities, Montaigne examines human behaviors without confining them to a single doctrine.
The work consists of three books. The first two were published in 1580; the third joined them in the augmented edition of 1588. Montaigne continued to make additions until his death, before the posthumous publication in 1595. This process of revision contributes to the fluid nature of the text: one idea calls for an example, an objection shifts it, a personal experience tests its significance.
This IA-Book takes as its corpus the three books provided in EPUB, whose metadata indicates 1595. The text retains an archaic spelling. The numbering of certain chapters in book I differs from that of other editions, so the titles serve as the most reliable markers for navigating the work.
You can question Montaigne about the formation of judgment, the critique of pedantry, the friendship with La Boétie, or the power of custom. You can also compare Des Cannibales and Des Coches, examine the critique of cruelty, explore doubt in the Apology of Raimond de Sebonde, or follow the reflection on the body and death up to De l'experience.
The author's presentation provides context on the Renaissance, the Wars of Religion, his readings, and his public responsibilities. The glossary explains important concepts and some old meanings; the proposed questions offer several starting points. The chapters of the Essays remain the main reference for illuminating each topic.
The work lends itself to a continuous reading as well as thematic pathways. It invites comparisons of passages, distinguishes a reported opinion from the author's position, and places famous formulas within their context. Comparisons with our current concerns can open the discussion, provided that we do not attribute to Montaigne ideas he did not express.

Michel Eyquem de Montaigne was born in 1533 in Périgord and died in 1592 in his castle. A writer of the Renaissance, trained in ancient letters, he was also a man engaged in the life of his time: a magistrate at the Bordeaux parliament, a landowner, a traveler, and mayor of Bordeaux from 1581 to 1585.
This diversity of experiences nourishes Les Essais. Montaigne questions received opinions, social customs, education, friendship, violence, illness, and death. He does not compose a philosophical system: he tests his judgments against books, events, and self-observation.
His friendship with Étienne de La Boétie, who passed away in 1563, profoundly marks his work. The Wars of Religion give a particular urgency to his attention to collective passions, cruelty, and the dangers of certainty. A Catholic, he remains attached to his beliefs while exploring the limits of human reason and the effects of customs on our convictions.
Plutarch, Seneca, and Latin poets are his interlocutors. He takes their examples, discusses them, and confronts them with his own condition. His critique of pedantry defends knowledge that shapes judgment rather than erudition intended to impress.
The first two books of the Essais were published in 1580. An expanded edition in 1588 added the third book; Montaigne then continued to enrich his text. Marie de Gournay plays an essential role in its posthumous publication in 1595 and in its transmission.
Montaigne remains read for his freedom of composition, his attention to human contradictions, and his way of making thought accessible in its very movement. His personal portrait invites us to examine our own certainties while preserving the distance between the world of the 16th century and our own.

Book presentation:
Convincing... ideas and words offers a practical approach to understanding how an idea, project, or proposal can be better heard, understood, and accepted by an interlocutor.
The book starts from a simple observation: we never perceive a situation in exactly the same way. Our history, experiences, beliefs, values, and preferences influence our understanding of the world. Convincing therefore implies going beyond the intrinsic quality of an idea and focusing on how it will be received.
The reader gradually discovers a series of complementary tools: analysis of efficiency through Know-How, Want-to-Act, and Can-Act, exploration of explicit and implicit needs, logical levels of communication, open questions, motivations to act, values and beliefs, construction of arguments, handling objections, feedback, and presentation before a group.
Particular emphasis is placed on constructing a balanced proposal: understanding the client's need, clarifying what motivates commitment, and identifying the desired positive impact. The book also distinguishes between the emotional and rational dimensions of decision-making in order to adapt communication to the different sensitivities of interlocutors.
The final sections transform these principles into concrete situations arising from management, recruitment, project management, consulting, or job searching. They particularly illustrate how to argue in the face of doubt, structure feedback, or capture an audience's attention.
The whole defends a demanding yet respectful conception of persuasion: not to force agreement, but to provide the other with the information, meaning, and conditions that allow them to make their own choice.
The most distinguishing point of the book, especially in relation to your current work, seems to be less about "how to convince" than "why a just idea is not enough to convince." The manuscript already contains an idea that will clearly become central in your later works: making explicit what remains implicit. This is found in the search for unexpressed needs, the distinction between perception/reality, values and beliefs, and even in the necessity of clarifying the expected impact of an action.
Preface:
Convincing is not imposing an idea. It is creating the conditions for it to be shared.
We have all experienced this situation: an idea seems obvious, relevant, sometimes even essential to us… and yet our interlocutor does not receive it as we imagined.
Why?
Because an idea never travels alone. It encounters another perception of the world, other experiences, other values, other beliefs, other needs — some expressed, many remaining implicit.
Convincing… ideas and words was born from this reality. The ambition of this work is not to learn to manipulate others, nor to provide some additional rhetorical recipes. It is to offer guidelines and tools to better understand what is at stake between an idea we want to convey and the way it will actually be perceived.
The common thread is deliberately pragmatic: first understand one’s own functioning and that of one’s interlocutor; distinguish what is said from what remains implicit; question rather than assume; clarify motivations to act; connect a proposal to the needs and values of the person who will receive it; and then build an argument that is both rational and emotionally relevant. This logic runs throughout the work.
Convincing then becomes less an oratory talent than a skill of understanding, structuring, and adapting.
This approach naturally finds its place in many professional situations: presenting a project, recruiting, job searching, leading a team, formulating an offer, handling an objection, giving or receiving feedback, defending a decision, or mobilizing a group. The book precisely outlines its tools in several of these contexts so that everyone can adapt them to their own reality.

Integrated mediation in management — … act before …
Bringing forth more intelligences at the right moments in organizations
Alain Mounir — 2020
What if we stopped chasing conflicts and started anticipating them?
Classic mediation is a valuable alternative to courts: it restores the link, empowers the parties, and co-constructs an agreement. But it is activated once the conflict is declared — it addresses a symptom, purely reactively. Alain Mounir proposes a simple yet demanding shift: to adopt the postures, tools, and mindset of the mediator and integrate them into daily management, from the inception of any idea, requirement, or necessity to act — well ahead of tensions.
The premise is deliberately unsettling and profoundly constructive: an unexpected conflict often signals a management flaw. Not to blame, but to reactivate the social, cultural, and relational responsibility of the leader. Because every tension addressed upstream costs at least one hundred times less than the same conflict managed in full operation, burdened with emotions and complexity.
The result of over thirty years of interventions in companies, the book is organized in two parts. The first part establishes eight methodological benchmarks — the reference "library": expanded chronology of conflict (latency, declared conflict, stabilization), learning phases, complementary roles (consultant, coach, trainer), MCP model (Clarify, Transmit, Realize, Feedback), meaning-based management, intuitive indicators. The second part, resolutely practical, presents worksheets, checklists, and concrete cases "that will only have value if you improve them."
For whom? Leaders, team and organization managers — anyone who decides, influences, engages individuals to act, and expects collective results. A method to be used "à la carte," according to your current skills, even if you complement them tomorrow.
"A little less energy on treating symptoms to better address the causes. Simple, effective, but not easy."
Preface:
Let's make as many mistakes as we want... but not the same ones twice.
I chose to train in mediation close to sixty, after more than thirty years as a corporate facilitator. Not out of nostalgia for another diploma, but out of intuition. This mediation that was emerging reminded me of something: coaching in the 1990s, its good intentions, and its two youthful mistakes — the turf wars to claim exclusivity over an approach, and the neglect of those it claimed to serve. It took years for everyone to finally understand what it was all about. So let's be clear: let's make mistakes, it's the price of learning — but not the same ones twice.
I do not oppose it to classical mediation. The latter remains a wonderful alternative to courts: when the conflict is there, it is better to address it, sustainably. But it always activates afterwards — on the symptom. However, one does not go to the dentist by chance: the cavity has a history, made up of habits and inattentions. The conflict does too. It is this history, the latency period, that I want to bring back to management.
My conviction is that of a former leader: the role of a leader includes a cultural and social responsibility. To embody the Values, to distribute the right information at the right time, to generate autonomy at all levels, to awaken as many talents and intuitions as possible. More than "following" — thus being late to reality — it is about anticipating, that is to say, influencing in time. Integrating mediation into one's management, before and after conflicts, can only be beneficial to those with whom one cooperates.
This book has no other ambition than to provide a pragmatic insight and, I admit, unreasonably authentic. It does not replace any method; it complements its use, earlier, where everything is still at stake. What I seek in it: more sincere commitments, lucidity and integrity; fewer psychosocial risks; more cooperation at the right time; more individual responsibility in service of the collective; and spaces where individual and collective intelligences can finally express themselves.
A utopia? Not in my practice. And only if, for you, it remains laid out on these pages.

Let’s make as many mistakes as we want, but… not the same ones twice!
This is the friendly and unreasonably authentic ambition of my message in this book, which aims to serve as a variation of classic mediation as an alternative to solely judicial systems.
I am one of the (former) leaders who are convinced that the role of a leader includes cultural and social responsibilities. The leader is not only responsible for keeping the cultural Values of the organization alive but also for (distributing) the right information and attitudes at the right time to generate autonomy at all levels of operations. This includes awakening and expressing as many talents and individual intuitions as possible. Cultivating internal intelligences is a common trait among many successful leaders.

Managing daily operations means facing the paradoxes between planned actions… and the unforeseen (the real… the unpredictable)! Having, by definition, no influence over the unforeseen, we must focus on impacting the relevance of our plans!
Indeed, there are several questions to address before embarking on your projects. These questions are not only important, but it is also better to answer them… in the right order! This book guides you through "the first intelligence": that of the process! We have complemented this first "intelligence" with other aspects to truly give you a chance of success.

Preface
The increasingly intense competition among companies pressures them to constantly adopt policies and new tools aimed at improving their competitiveness. Companies that refuse this constraint and shy away from change implicitly make the decision to fall behind. Furthermore, as we enter the new millennium, business leaders are preparing to renew their practices in the face of new challenges.
This original volume titled “4 intelligences ... on time!” offers an approach primarily aimed at providing modern managers with new reference points on daily management practices. The concept of “4 intelligences ... on time” is innovative, stimulating, and practical as it is developed by a “humanistic” consultant with several years of experience in management consulting. Whether you are a manager or a management professional, I am confident that you will appreciate this volume, which will provoke thought to enrich your management practice.

Book presentation:
Cette question me semble extraordinairement actuelle.

Peut-on changer ?

Voltaire – Rousseau: One Century, Two Visions of Man and Society
Voltaire and Jean-Jacques Rousseau belong to the same century, participate in the great intellectual debates of the Enlightenment, and both question freedom, society, religion, education, inequalities, and progress.
However, their answers are often profoundly different.
It is this confrontation that *Voltaire – Rousseau: One Century, Two Visions of Man and Society* proposes to explore.
The objective is not to determine which of the two was right, nor to reduce their thought to a succession of disagreements. Rather, it is to place their works side by side in order to understand how two men confronted with the transformations of the same era could have such different views on the individual and society.
Voltaire places essential importance on reason, knowledge, and the fight against intolerance, fanaticism, and arbitrariness. He believes it is possible to gradually improve society and willingly uses irony, criticism, and controversy to combat what he considers injustices or absurdities.
Rousseau questions more what society does to man. He interrogates inequalities, the effects of civilization, the foundations of political authority, and the conditions under which an individual can remain free while belonging to a community.
Their divergences then become particularly fruitful.
Does the development of knowledge necessarily make men better? Does progress improve society? How can individual freedom be reconciled with collective interest? Where do inequalities come from? What education allows for the formation of a free man? What place should religion occupy in society? And how far can one transform society without harming the individual?
These questions belong to the 18th century, but many still resonate with contemporary debates.
The work also allows for a move beyond overly simplistic images. Voltaire cannot be reduced to the smiling defender of tolerance, just as Rousseau cannot be summarized as a critic of progress. Their thoughts contain nuances, tensions, and sometimes contradictions that the confrontation allows us to better perceive.
With IA-Book, this comparison takes on an additional dimension. The reader can start from a question and explore how each of the two authors addresses it, confront their arguments, explore their convergences as well as their divergences, or extend their reflection based on a current issue.
This work thus proposes less a duel between Voltaire and Rousseau than a dialogue through the centuries.
A dialogue between two visions of man and society that, even today, can help us question our own.
Preface:
There are ideas that accompany us for a long time before we know what we will do with them.
I met Voltaire and Rousseau at school; of course, I do not remember everything that was taught to me about them at that time, but something has stayed with me: these two men belonged to the same century, often questioned the same great issues, and yet could have profoundly different views on man and society.
This idea has never really left me.
Over the years, I often thought it would be fascinating to be able to ask exactly the same question to Voltaire and Rousseau, and then place their answers side by side.
What would they think of progress? Of education? Of inequalities? Of freedom? Of our way of organizing society? Where would they agree? Where would their reasoning become incompatible? And above all, what could we learn by confronting their two visions without necessarily trying to determine which one was right?
For a very long time, this remained a simple intellectual desire for me.
A traditional book naturally allows for the comparison of authors, but it most often imposes the questions chosen by the one who writes it. However, what I dreamed of was quite different: I wanted the reader to be able to choose their own question and from that, explore the two thoughts.
Nearly sixty years after my first classes on Voltaire and Rousseau, artificial intelligence suddenly made this idea imaginable.
It is this reflection from my youth that contributed to leading me to what would become IA-Book.
Not an artificial intelligence tasked with inventing what Voltaire or Rousseau might answer us today, but a tool that allows us to question their works, to search for their arguments, to bring their texts closer together, and to confront their thoughts based on the same question.
The difference is essential.
IA-Book should not make the authors speak in their place. It should allow the reader to enter differently into what they have truly left us.
This work therefore holds a somewhat special place for me. It materializes a question born on the school benches and preserved for nearly sixty years without imagining that one day a tool would actually allow it to be explored in this way.
And now that this tool exists, the question I was asking then can finally become that of every reader:
"And you, Voltaire and Rousseau, what do you tell us about this?"
This is perhaps, ultimately, one of the reasons why IA-Book exists today.

Voltaire and Jean-Jacques Rousseau are among the major figures of the European 18th century. Contemporaries, both associated with the Age of Enlightenment, they nevertheless developed often very different conceptions of man, society, progress, and civilization.
Voltaire, born François-Marie Arouet in 1694, is a writer, philosopher, historian, and polemicist. His immense body of work takes very diverse forms: tales, essays, theater, poetry, historical works, correspondence, and intervention texts. His fight against religious fanaticism, intolerance, and arbitrariness remains one of the most well-known aspects of his thought.
Deeply attached to reason, Voltaire believes in the progress of knowledge and the possibility of improving society. He defends tolerance, fights against injustices, and intervenes directly in several major judicial affairs of his time. His irony and taste for controversy make writing a true intellectual weapon. *Candide*, *Philosophical Letters*, and *Treatise on Tolerance* illustrate different facets of this approach.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, born in Geneva in 1712, develops a significantly different thought. A writer, philosopher, and political theorist, he questions, among other things, the relationships between the individual and society, the origin of inequalities, education, freedom, and the foundations of political authority.
In the *Discourse on the Origin and Basis of Inequality Among Men*, *The Social Contract*, or *Emile*, Rousseau questions the effects of civilization and seeks the conditions that allow man to remain free within society. With *The Confessions* and *The Reveries of the Solitary Walker*, he also gives exceptional importance to introspection, feeling, and personal experience.
Voltaire and Rousseau share certain concerns of their century, but their responses diverge deeply. Where Voltaire places essential importance on reason, the development of knowledge, and the progressive improvement of society, Rousseau is much more critical of the effects of progress and civilization on man.
Their relationship was marked by profound disagreements and sometimes particularly virulent exchanges.
Bringing them closer today allows us to find two ways of questioning the same era. Freedom, equality, progress, education, religion, power, individual happiness, or the organization of society: their works offer different answers to questions that remain surprisingly relevant.
More than two centuries after their passing, Voltaire and Rousseau continue to invite us not necessarily to choose between their thoughts, but to confront their arguments and, through them, to build our own reflection.

Book presentation:
The novel "The Idiot," written by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky and first published in 1868-1869, occupies a special place in the writer's oeuvre. At the center of the work is Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin — a sincere, kind, compassionate man who is almost devoid of the usual societal drive for power, profit, and self-assertion. Returning to Russia after a long treatment in Switzerland, he finds himself in a world where human relationships are defined by money, passions, ambition, jealousy, and social conventions.
Dostoevsky sets himself an extraordinarily complex task: to show a person whose moral purity confronts the reality of society. It is this sincerity of Myshkin that leads those around him to perceive him as strange, naive, and even an "idiot." However, the question gradually arises: does the prince truly not understand the world around him — or, on the contrary, does he see people and their inner contradictions much more clearly than others?
One of the central figures of the novel is Nastasya Filippovna — a proud, vulnerable woman deeply traumatized by her past. Her relationships with Myshkin and the passionately in love Parfyon Rogozhin form the tragic center of the narrative. Caught between compassion, love, the desire for salvation, and destructive passion, the characters find themselves embroiled in a conflict from which it is almost impossible to emerge unscathed.
But "The Idiot" is significantly broader than a love drama. Through numerous characters and their confrontations, Dostoevsky explores human dignity, money, power, social status, the fear of death, religious faith, selfishness, and the capacity for compassion. Each character seems to offer their own answer to the question of how a person should live among others.
The special strength of the novel lies in the absence of simple moral solutions. Goodness in itself does not guarantee victory. Compassion may prove powerless against passion, and the desire to save another person can lead to tragedy. Myshkin is capable of understanding and forgiving, but his moral purity does not allow him to change the surrounding world.
"The Idiot" compels the reader to reflect on a paradox that remains relevant today: what happens to a truly good person in a society built on competition, interests, and social roles? And who in such a world should be considered the "idiot" — the one who refuses to live by its rules, or those who see these rules as the only possible ones?
Preface:
It is with great pleasure that I present to readers "The Idiot" by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky — the first work in our collection of Russian authors, which I have the honor to lead.
Starting this collection with Dostoevsky is by no means a random choice. Russian literature has gifted the world many great writers, but Dostoevsky's work occupies a completely special place within it. His works belong to their time and country, but the questions he poses have no boundaries or epochs. What is good? What does it mean to be free? Can one understand another person without judging them? Can compassion stand against violence, passion, pride, and selfishness? This is precisely why, more than a century and a half later, we continue to read Dostoevsky and recognize ourselves in his characters.
"The Idiot" seems to me to be an especially beautiful work to open this collection. Prince Myshkin enters society with sincerity, kindness, and an almost limitless capacity for compassion. And very quickly, an amazing paradox arises: it is precisely these qualities that make him appear to those around him as a strange, unadapted, and even ridiculous person. The title of the novel gradually turns into a question directed at each of us: who is truly the "idiot" here?
In creating this collection, I would like to offer not just the opportunity to reread the great works of Russian literature. I want to help the reader engage in a genuine dialogue with them. Behind the well-known titles, historical circumstances, and characters lie reflections on humanity that resonate remarkably with our present life.
This is where I see the special significance of the presence of Russian classics in IA-Book. The new form of reading does not replace the work and does not attempt to rewrite it. On the contrary, it invites us to return to the text, to ask it questions, to explore the characters' traits, to compare their choices with our own experiences, and to understand the author's thoughts more deeply.
"The Idiot" opens this collection, but it will be followed by other works and other voices of Russian literature. I hope that gradually a living space for meeting Pushkin, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Dostoevsky, and many other authors will emerge before the reader, rather than just a library of famous books.
It is a great joy for me to open this collection today with "The Idiot." And if, thanks to it, even some readers wish to discover Dostoevsky for the first time — or to reread him with new eyes — then this collection has already found its meaning.

Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821–1881) is one of the greatest Russian writers and thinkers of the 19th century, whose work has had a tremendous impact on world literature, philosophy, and the understanding of human psychology. His works explore the deepest contradictions of human nature: freedom and responsibility, good and evil, faith and doubt, love and hatred, suffering, guilt, and the possibility of moral rebirth.
Dostoevsky was born in Moscow into a family of a doctor. After receiving an engineering education in St. Petersburg, he soon abandoned a military career to devote himself to literature. His first novel, "Poor Folk," published in 1846, attracted the attention of literary circles. However, the writer's fate changed dramatically after his involvement in the Petrashevsky circle. In 1849, Dostoevsky was arrested and sentenced to death. At the last moment, the execution was commuted to hard labor. The four years spent in Siberia, followed by military service, became a decisive experience that profoundly changed his worldview.
After returning to literary activity, Dostoevsky created works that would bring him worldwide fame: "Notes from Underground," "Crime and Punishment," "The Idiot," "Demons," "The Adolescent," and "The Brothers Karamazov." In these novels, the plot becomes a space for the clash of ideas, beliefs, and moral choices. His heroes do not just act—they argue, doubt, suffer, try to understand themselves, and define the boundaries of their own freedom.
A special place in Dostoevsky's work is occupied by the question of a person's responsibility for their actions. Can an idea justify a crime? Where is the line between freedom and destruction? Is moral rebirth possible after a fall? What happens to a person when reason comes into conflict with conscience? These questions run through the entire oeuvre of the writer and remain remarkably contemporary.
Dostoevsky had an exceptional ability to depict the internal conflicts of a person. Long before the emergence of modern psychology, he explored the mechanisms of fear, guilt, self-deception, addiction, humiliation, and the desire for recognition. This is why his works later attracted the attention of philosophers, psychologists, and thinkers of various directions.
But Dostoevsky is not only a writer of human suffering. At the center of his world is also the possibility of transforming a person through compassion, love, faith, and acceptance of responsibility. Even his most tragic characters retain the possibility of choice.
Reading Dostoevsky today means entering into a dialogue not only with a great Russian writer of the 19th century but also with a thinker who poses to each reader one of the most difficult questions: what does it mean to be human when no simple answer is possible?

Book presentation:

Book presentation:
What can an ancient Chinese strategist and one of the main architects of the Toyota production system in the 20th century have in common?
At first glance, very little. Sun Tzu reflects on war, power dynamics, and the conduct of armies. More than two millennia later, Taiichi Ohno works on industrial organization, production flows, and waste elimination.
This book, however, proposes to compare them around the same question: how to achieve a goal by making the best use of the resources at hand?
In The Art of War, Sun Tzu develops a conception of strategy in which knowledge of the situation precedes action. Observing, understanding the environment, anticipating, adapting, and avoiding unnecessary confrontation help preserve one's strengths. Effectiveness does not necessarily result from the power engaged, but from the ability to act in the right place, at the right time, and in the most relevant manner.
Taiichi Ohno encounters, in a very different context, another form of constraint. Post-war industrial Japan does not have the conditions to simply replicate Western mass production models. It is necessary to learn to produce differently.
This necessity will contribute to the development of the Toyota Production System and principles that will later inform Lean Management: observing actual work, identifying waste, improving flows, seeking the causes of problems, producing according to needs, and engaging stakeholders in continuous improvement.
This book does not claim that Taiichi Ohno was inspired by Sun Tzu, nor that military strategy could serve as a management manual. The proposed comparison is of a different nature.
It consists of confronting two ways of thinking about action under constraint.
From Sun Tzu to Ohno, resonances emerge: understanding before acting, preferring situational intelligence to the waste of means, preserving resources, eliminating the unnecessary, adapting rather than persisting, and seeking system effectiveness rather than the apparent performance of each of its components.
This journey ultimately leads to questioning certain very contemporary ideas in management.
Is more resources always necessary to achieve better results? Is a high-performing organization one that works the most, or one that best avoids unnecessary work? How to distinguish speed from haste, economy from efficiency, local optimization from global performance?
By bringing Sun Tzu and Taiichi Ohno into dialogue, this IA-Book thus offers a journey of over two thousand years around a question that has not lost its relevance:
How to act better rather than simply act more?
Preface:
Why bring Sun Tzu and Taiichi Ohno together?
When I started thinking about this work, it was not a similarity between war and business that interested me. I do not believe that business is a battlefield, nor do I think that management consists of defeating opponents.
What interests me lies elsewhere.
More than two thousand years separate Sun Tzu and Taiichi Ohno. They belong to completely different civilizations, eras, and worlds. Yet, when I reread The Art of War with my perspective as a management and Lean Management practitioner, certain ideas resonate naturally.
Observe before acting. Understand the real situation. Do not unnecessarily engage your resources. Adapt rather than persist. Avoid actions that consume energy without truly contributing to the desired outcome.
This intellectual proximity seemed to me worth exploring.
It is certainly not a matter of claiming that Taiichi Ohno built the Toyota Production System based on the principles of Sun Tzu. This book does not seek to establish any historical lineage. It simply proposes to place side by side two thoughts on efficiency and to see the questions that their confrontation can raise.
This is precisely what interests me in management.
We too often seek performance by adding: more resources, more procedures, more indicators, more controls. Yet both Sun Tzu and Ohno, each in their own universe, invite us to look at the problem differently.
Before adding, shouldn’t we start by understanding?
Before accelerating, shouldn’t we know in which direction we are going?
Before asking for more effort, shouldn’t we seek everything that is already consuming our resources unnecessarily?
These questions go far beyond Lean Management. They concern our way of deciding, organizing action, and even defining what we call performance.
It is also for this reason that I wanted to make this text an IA-Book. The connection between Sun Tzu and Taiichi Ohno is only of interest if it in turn provokes questions. The reader should be able to challenge an analogy, deepen an idea, confront the two approaches, or explore what they can bring to a concrete situation.
This book does not claim to provide a new management method.
It offers something that seems ultimately more useful: a different perspective on efficiency.
And if, after more than two thousand years of reflection on how to intelligently use our strengths, one of the first questions we should ask ourselves remains simply: What are we doing today that should not need to be done?

Sun Tzu and Taiichi Ohno — Two Thinkers of Efficiency
More than two millennia separate Sun Tzu and Taiichi Ohno. The former thinks about military strategy in ancient China; the latter participates, in the 20th century, in the construction of a new model of industrial organization in Japan. At first glance, nothing should bring them together. However, their reflections present particularly interesting similarities when observed from the perspective of strategy, efficiency, and resource utilization.
Sun Tzu is traditionally considered the author of *The Art of War*, a Chinese strategic treatise dating back to antiquity. The work does not merely explain how to lead an army. It develops a genuine thought on action in which knowledge of the situation, observation, adaptation, and economy of means occupy an essential place.
For Sun Tzu, the best victory is not necessarily the one achieved through the most spectacular confrontation. An effective strategy first consists of understanding one’s environment, knowing one’s own strengths and those of the opponent, avoiding unnecessary battles, and creating the conditions that allow for achieving the objective with the minimum of losses and efforts.
Taiichi Ohno (1912-1990) operates in a radically different universe. An engineer and then a leader at Toyota, he is one of the key figures in the development of the Toyota Production System, which will profoundly influence what is later called Lean Management.
In the context of the post-war Japanese industry, Ohno must address a major challenge: how to produce efficiently when resources are limited and mass production methods cannot simply be replicated?
His answer is based, among other things, on the observation of actual work, the reduction of waste, the mastery of flows, production based on needs, and the constant search for the causes of problems. The goal is not to make people or machines work harder, but to build a system capable of using available resources more intelligently.
The connection between Sun Tzu and Taiichi Ohno does not mean, of course, that they develop the same thought, nor that there is a direct lineage between *The Art of War* and the Toyota Production System.
However, it does allow for a common question to emerge: **how to achieve an objective without unnecessarily wasting one’s forces?**
In both Sun Tzu and Ohno, efficiency is not confused with power. Observing before acting, understanding the situation, eliminating unnecessary actions, adapting to circumstances, and preserving resources are principles that can resonate with each other.
Engaging them in dialogue thus allows for traversing more than two thousand years of reflection on a notion that is ultimately very modern: achieving more results does not necessarily mean mobilizing more means, but often learning to better understand and organize action.

Book presentation:
This AI-Book is part of the "Managing People" collection, a series of works dedicated to the human dimensions of management. It is aimed at leaders, executives, managers, team leaders, project managers, and anyone who wishes to better understand individual and collective behaviors in order to develop more serene, effective, and constructive working relationships.
Each book in this collection explores a major human issue encountered in organizations to provide the reader with a vision that is both concrete, documented, and directly applicable in professional life.
All teams eventually face difficult personalities. Behind these behaviors sometimes lie personal difficulties, psychological mechanisms, unresolved conflicts, or simply ways of being that complicate working relationships over time. For the manager, it is not only about dealing with these situations but also about preserving team cohesion while maintaining an atmosphere of trust and respect.
This AI-Book explores the different forms of difficult personalities encountered in the professional world: manipulative behaviors, aggression, rigidity, victimization, excessive ego, toxic attitudes, or persistent relational difficulties. It helps to better understand the mechanisms underlying them and offers avenues for reflection to prevent tensions, adapt one's posture, and act with discernment.
Based on a rich corpus composed of articles, studies, feedback, reflections, and numerous documents dedicated to human relations in the workplace, this AI-Book provides you with a true interactive knowledge base. Its goal is to enable each reader to better analyze complex situations, develop appropriate responses, and sustainably preserve the quality of relationships within teams.
Whether you are a leader, an experienced manager, a future responsible person, or simply eager to better understand human behaviors in organizations, this work is an excellent complement to the other AI-Books in the "Managing People" collection and, more broadly, to the specialized library "Management & Leadership."

His experience has been built primarily in the field: technical and international projects, innovation, management, change management, troubled projects, or situations where quick analysis, decision-making, and action are required. An inventor and holder of several patents, he also supports innovators in developing their ideas and projects.
Over the years, he has developed an approach based on common sense, pragmatism, listening, and the search for concrete solutions.

This AI-Book is part of the "Management - Influence & Communication" collection, a series of works dedicated to professional communication, influence, public speaking, conducting meetings, and the mechanisms that allow for convincing, mobilizing, and advancing ideas within organizations.
Each book in this collection explores a major issue related to managerial communication in order to provide the reader with a vision that is both concrete, documented, and directly applicable in professional life.
The best ideas are not always the ones that prevail. In companies, it is not uncommon for relevant proposals to disappear due to not being properly presented, defended, or understood. Poorly prepared meetings, lack of listening, power dynamics, difficulties in convincing, or inappropriate postures sometimes turn exchanges into real obstacles to innovation and decision-making.
This AI-Book explores the mechanisms that allow for presenting, defending, and advancing one's ideas in professional environments. It analyzes influence games, group dynamics, the most common communication errors, argumentation techniques, as well as behaviors that promote adherence and cooperation.
Based on a rich corpus composed of articles, studies, feedback, reflections, and numerous documents dedicated to communication and management, this AI-Book provides you with a true interactive knowledge base. Its goal is to help each reader better understand the mechanisms that allow ideas to circulate, be heard, and become shared projects.
Whether you are a leader, manager, project manager, meeting facilitator, or simply someone who regularly needs to defend your ideas, this work serves as an excellent entry point into the entire "Management - Influence & Communication" collection and, more broadly, into the specialized library "Management & Leadership."

This AI-Book is part of the collection "The Manager Facing Himself," a series of works dedicated to the personal realities of the managerial function. It is aimed at leaders, executives, managers, team leaders, and anyone who wishes to better understand the human, emotional, and psychological mechanisms that accompany the exercise of responsibilities.
Each book in this collection explores a major question related to how managers experience their role on a daily basis, in order to provide the reader with a vision that is both concrete, documented, and directly applicable in professional life.
Deciding is one of the most demanding responsibilities of a manager. Contrary to a widely held belief, important decisions are almost never made with all available information. The facts are incomplete, risks are difficult to measure, opinions can be contradictory, and consequences are often unpredictable. However, waiting indefinitely is not a solution: the absence of a decision can sometimes produce effects as heavy as a bad decision.
This AI-Book explores the mechanisms of decision-making in contexts of uncertainty. It analyzes the role of intuition, experience, caution, courage, risk analysis, doubt, and responsibility in the construction of managerial decisions. It shows how to develop a reflective approach that allows for discernment in action, even when not all guarantees are in place.
Drawing from a rich corpus of articles, studies, feedback, reflections, and numerous documents dedicated to management, decision-making, and the responsibilities of leaders, this AI-Book provides you with a true interactive knowledge base. It helps you better understand the mechanisms of decision-making, accept uncertainty as a natural component of management, and strengthen your ability to act with clarity in complex situations.
